Facade stones

Facade stones are sometimes true works of art, placed in the facade of a building, with a representation and/or text that is or was related to the builder, resident, owner or user of that building.
They originated in the second half of the 16th century and were used as a "house sign" until the 18th century, because house numbers did not yet exist.
